Fatal collision - Wangaratta

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a collision this morning which has claimed the life of a 65 year old woman on the Hume Freeway at Boralma, north of Wangaratta. 

Around 6:50 a.m, a semi-trailer and a small farm truck were travelling south bound along the Hume Highway near the Carraragarmunge Road when the two vehicles collided.

The two occupants of the small farm truck suffered serious injuries at the scene requiring treatment.

The injured 69 year-old man from the farm vehicle was airlifted to the Royal Melbourne Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

The other occupant of the vehicle, a woman from Wangaratta was taken to the Wangaratta Base Hospital for treatment but later died.

The farm truck had approximately 20 goats on board when the collision occurred, with six of them dying at the scene.

The Department of Primary Industries attended the scene and assisted with the care of the remaining livestock.

The truck driver was un-injured and is currently assisting police with their enquiries.

Any witnesses to the collision are urged to contact Crime-stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Police will prepare a report for the Coroner.

Police are appealing for information on two wanted men, believed to be living in Victoria.

Hung Ya NGUYEN was allegedly involved in trafficking heroin in Footscray in September 2010.

Mark Anthony SANDWITH (also uses the name INGALL - pictured left), was involved in making threats to kill in Daylesford in December 2010.

Police have released the following images of both men. Warrants have been issued for their arrest.
