Armed Crime Squad detectives are appealing for public assistance following the investigation into an armed robbery at a Newcomb hotel on 25 February.
Detectives have been told a man entered the hotel situated on the Bellarine Highway about 2.30am.
It is believed the man, armed with a sawn-off shot gun, approached the cashier booth and made a demand for cash.
The offender stole a large quantity of cash before leaving the store via the front door.
It is believed the offender fled the scene in a small light coloured sedan or hatchback.
The offender was wearing a white balaclava, black gloves, grey hoody, dark jeans and black and white runners which had pink laces on the left shoe.
Detectives have released images and CCTV of a man who they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.
Investigators believe the offender was involved in a collision with an unknown person in the Newcomb or Whittington areas following the armed robbery.
Details were exchanged and detectives are keen to speak to that driver.
Anyone with information about the armed robbery is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or visit www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
