Investigators have been told a 68-year-old Doncaster man was walking back to his car with his dog on Bay Street on Saturday 4 June about 5.45pm.

He was approached by three unknown people and was punched to the face by one man without warning.

The victim has tried to defend himself and grabbed the man by his shirt.

He was then hit by a second man and fell to the ground.

The first man made demands for the victim’s car keys, who told him the keys were inside the car.

The trio had a quick look inside the 2015 white BMW, however were unable to locate the keys and have fled down Bay Street, turning left onto Beach Road.

The victim received serious injuries and was transported to hospital by ambulance.

Police are appealing for public assistance to help identify three people they believe may be able to assist them with their enquiries.

The first man is perceived to be of Pacific Islander/Maori appearance, aged in his late teens to early 20s, about 183cm, with a medium build and was wearing a hooded top.

The second man is perceived to be of Middle Eastern appearance, about 175cm tall, aged in his late teens to early 20s, with a slim build and dark brown hair.

The third person could have been either male or female, about 165cm tall, with a thin build and was wearing a dark-coloured hooded top.
