It’s understood a black Ford Focus was driving in an erratic manner through a hotel car park on Maroondah Highway about 7.50pm last night.
The car narrowly missed pedestrians and other vehicles in the car park before it drove west bound on the wrong side of Maroondah Highway toward Kalinda Road.
Police pursued the vehicle as it turned into Beaufort Road, through red traffic lights, and through a shopping precinct.
The car then drove through another set of red traffic lights at the intersection of Maroondah Highway and Kalinda Road.
The Ford, which had no registration plates, continued north along Kalinda Road before it was dumped in Maggs Street.
Two people ran from the car and jumped the fence of a nearby property where police lost sight of them.
Investigators urge anyone with further information to contact crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or make a confidential report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
