The alleged incident occurred between July 2015 and May this year and took place while the member was off duty.
The Leading Senior Constable from the Eastern Region was arrested this morning in Tullamarine.
A warrant was also subsequently executed at a property in Melbourne’s north this morning as part of the investigation.
The police member was interviewed and charged with six offences including rape, intentionally cause injury and indecent act in presence of a child under the age of 16.
The man will face Melbourne Magistrates’ Court today.
He has been suspended with pay.
Taskforce Salus was established to identify and investigate sexual predatory behaviour and serious sexual harassment and discrimination allegations made against current or former Victoria Police employees.
