A male senior constable from the North West Metro Region has been charged on summons by investigators from Professional Standards Command with the following:
• Use a firearm in a town
• Use a firearm on a thoroughfare used by the public
• Destroy protected wildlife being a female kangaroo
• Hunt protected wildlife
• Disturb protected wildlife
• Use a firearm in a reserve
He will appear at Heidelberg Magistrates’ Court on 16 September.
The incident is alleged to have occurred on 17 January and involved a non-police issue firearm.
The policeman has been transferred to non-operational duties.
