A Message from the Chief Commissioner

Chief Commissioner Simon Overland

Thanks for visiting My Place

I hope it helps you understand what crime is taking place in your local community and provides you with some useful crime prevention tips.

Victoria Police will be updating the crime figures every three months so you can see what is happening in your suburbs and hear directly from your local police Inspector about the work being done by police in your neighbourhood.

Policing is everyone's business and we all have responsibilities. Every person in the community has a role to play in keeping themselves, their property and each other safe.

A lot of crime is both opportunistic and preventable. Small changes to the way you go about your lives can make a huge difference.

Removing your GPS or valuables from the car, making sure your doors and windows are locked, asking a neighbour to look after your house whilst you go on holiday and using one way screws on your number plates are all easy steps which will help reduce crime in your local community.

I hope you take advantage of the crime prevention information on My Place so that we can collectively work together to prevent and reduce instances of burglary, vehicle crime and violent crime in your community.

I along with other members of Victoria Police will regularly be taking part in online forums on this site and look forward to answering your questions, discussing community ideas and getting your feedback on current initiatives and what you think is working and what we can improve.

Simon Overland
Chief Commissioner
