P-plater online chat

P-platers have been the focus of recent discussions about road safety, following horrific and tragic collisions involving young drivers.

Safety measures, including restricting the number of peer passengers, have been introduced to ensure that P-platers adopt safe driving behaviours, but we are still seeing a significant number of young drivers participating in risky-driving behaviour and endangering their lives and the lives of others.

Victoria Police has received many comments, questions and suggestions from the community about lowering the road toll and gave motorists an opportunity to chat live to Deputy Commissioner, Road Policing, Ken Lay and VicRoads’ Director of Road User Safety, Dave Shelton, about young drivers and their safety.

Deputy Commissioner, Road Policing, Ken Lay and VicRoads' Director of Road User Safety, Dave Shelton, answered your questions in an online chat here on Wednesday 24th February from 12.30pm-1.30pm
