Koroit is a 16-hour station which is staffed by two members, one who is currently on leave and another who is seconded to a tasking unit within the same police service area. Due to the police officer being on leave, arrangements have been made for police from neighbouring police stations to complete shifts at Koroit during this short-term absence. Over the next two weeks, eight out of the ten designated shifts at Koroit Police Station have been filled. For the remaining two shifts, the station will be closed and a police response will be provided by neighbouring police stations. As Koroit is a 16-hour station, it is common for police in neighbouring areas to cover the area when the station is not in operation. We do not expect service delivery to be compromised in any way and the Koroit community will continue to receive a high level of police assistance. As the area currently has an additional two police officers, we do not believe that moving police from neighbouring areas to Koroit on a temporary basis will have any impact on police service.
