Almost two years after Shannon McCormack was fatally assaulted outside the QBH nightclub, police continue to seek public assistance to find the assailant responsible for the death of the 22-year-old.

Police are hoping the offer of a $100,000 reward will encourage anyone with information to come forward, as despite an intense police investigation and continued appeals to the public, detectives are no closer to solving the case.

Detective Inspector Steve Clark from the Homicide Squad said police need the public’s help to apprehend the person responsible.

“Shannon’s parents, Bill and Cheryl, have been very active in appealing for public assistance. After the assault, detectives set up an information caravan on Queensbridge Street and released a face image of a man we still want to speak with.

“However we are still waiting for that one piece of information that will complete the picture of what actually happened on the night,??? Detective Inspector Clarke said.

Shannon McCormack died following an assault on Sunday, 27 May 2007 in which he was knocked to the ground following an altercation with three men outside the QBH nightclub in Queensbridge Street.

Shannon underwent several operations for a serious head injury but did not regain consciousness and died on Sunday, 3 June 2007.

Detective Inspector Clark said no-one should head out for a good time with friends and never make it home.
