Homicide Squad detectives believe a $100, 000 reward could hold the key to solving the 2008 disappearance of a Shepparton man. Detectives hold grave fears for Engin Ozdemir, 46, who was last seen at his home address in Carlisle Court, Shepparton in the afternoon of Thursday 19 June, 2008. Police believe he may have met with foul play. His vehicle, a white 1990 Toyota Camry four door sedan, was discovered a week later at the Shepparton Railway Station. Police have reason to believe Mr Ozdemir’s car was parked at the station on the day of his disappearance around 5pm. It appears he may have met with an unknown person driving a 1990’s model white Ford station wagon. A reward of up to $100, 000 will be paid at the discretion of the Chief Commissioner, for information leading to the apprehension and subsequent conviction of the person or persons responsible for the death of Engin Ozdemir. The Director of Public Prosecutions will consider, according to established guidelines, the granting of an indemnification from prosecution to any person who provides information as to the identity of the principal offender or offenders in this investigation. Detective Inspector Steve Clark said police hoped the reward would hold the key to unlocking crucial information surrounding Mr Ozdemir’s disappearance. “I hope this reward will encourage somebody out there with information about this investigation to come forward and help us provide justice for the Ozdemir family,??? said Detective Inspector Clark. “I am confident that somebody in the community knows who is responsible for Engin’s disappearance and I encourage them to come forward with information.??? Police have released an image of Mr Ozdemir, his vehicle and a late model white Ford station wagon, similar to the one Mr Ozdemir may have come into contact with on the day of his disappearance.
