Police from the Dandenong Divisional Response Unit executed three search warrants in Melbourne south east last week as part of Operation Chronos.

Operation Chronos, a joint operation between the Drug Task Force and regional investigators, focuses on the detection of cannabis crop houses and associated organised crime syndicates across the state.

The three search warrants were executed in Tangerine Drive and Harrington Drive, Narre Warren South, and Thwaites Road, Pakenham early on Thursday morning (15/06).

A 47-year-old Hallam man was arrested after he was found hiding inside an alleged crop house on Harrington Drive.

He has been charged with cultivate a narcotic plant and has been remanded to appear the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 28 July.

Prior to the raids Thursday’s raids Assistant Commissioner Stephen Fontana said “…since the beginning of this year with Drug Task Force in its operations now working with the regions, we’ve done about 74 grow houses - we’re doing another three today- and we’ve seized over four tonnes of cannabis.

“…there’s a lot of cannabis out there, there’s a lot of grow houses, and we’re having a concerted effort to break the back of this industry.”
